FCLL Volunteer Program – Frequently Asked Questions

Why is volunteering important?
We rely on family volunteers to provide the best experience for our players. When more families get involved, we reduce burnout, strengthen our community, and create a smoother, more enjoyable season for everyone.

This program helps ensure that all families have the chance to contribute—while keeping registration fees as low as possible.

Do I have to pay the volunteer buyout fee?
No, you don’t have to pay! Families can meet the volunteer requirement by signing up for available opportunities throughout the season.
That said, we know some families have limited time or busy schedules. If volunteering isn’t feasible, we offer a $250 per-family buyout option during registration. The choice is yours.

What does the buyout cover?
Buyout funds go toward league operations like field maintenance,  equipment upgrades, and facility improvements.
Note:  Umpiring is still a separate team responsibility, and families who choose the buyout may still be asked to help with umpiring when needed.

How much do I need to volunteer?
We use a simple points system to track volunteer participation.  Baseball families: 10 volunteer points per spring season, Softball families: 6 volunteer points per season

This is per family—not per player—so you only need to fulfill one set of points for your household.

Why is softball’s requirement lower?
Softball operates on a much more limited schedule than baseball. The number of games and volunteer opportunities are greatly reduced in comparison to baseball.

How do I track my volunteer hours?
FCLL use an app called Track It Forward, where you can browse open volunteer opportunities and sign up for shifts or roles.  Track It Forward allows you to log your hours and track your progress towards meeting your volunteer requirements.

What if I don’t complete my volunteer points?FCLL will work with every family to ensure there are opportunities to fulfill volunteer requirements.  Families that do not meet the required points of 10 (baseball) or 6 (softball) may be assessed $25 per point short and invoiced through their SportsConnect account.

Families with past a volunteer balance (points or invoice) may be ineligible for All Stars or tournaments until the volunteer requirement is met. Families may choose to pay their balance due or assert they will volunteer in the post season to meet their commitment.

What if I can’t volunteer or pay the buyout?
FCLL will work with families who have hardships due to unique circumstances. Email [email protected] to request a hardship exemption.

How do I sign up to volunteer?
During player registration, you may select the volunteer role(s) you are willing to help with. If you do not select a volunteer role, you have the option to pay the $250 buyout.

Can another family member or friend fulfill my volunteer requirements on my behalf?
Yes! Many volunteer opportunities can be fulfilled by a family member or friend on your behalf. This includes tasks like snack shack shifts, field prep, and event help. To enable a family member or friend to fulfill your requirements, please add them as volunteers to your SportsConnect account during registration.

However, please note that some roles—such as Manager, Coach, or Team Parent—require training, certification, or a background check due to Little League safety policies.

Still have questions?
We’re happy to help! Email us at [email protected] with any questions or concerns.
